Get to Know the Artist Behind the Temp

Who am I Exactly?

Well, that's a great question. You wouldn't buy just any plain 'ol art from some random stranger would you? I hope you answered yes,  but if you didn't I'll tell you the fairly longly-short version of how I became a wood burner. Grab a snack, get your mug of coca because it's going to be a story not worth missing...just kidding I'm not that fun lol! Anyways, 3 years ago I worked for Sprint (ancient, right?), It was a slow day like every other day in a Sprint store and my boss told me about how she unpacked her old woodburner and tried it out. Me, not knowing jack squat about woodburning asked some questions and proceeded to HEAVILY study the art of Pyrography. I would waste away my shifts watching how to videos, following MULTIPLE artists on social media and getting as many ideas as possible. I went to Hobby Lobby that night and bought the most generic, cheapest (because I'm cheap ;)) burner you could find. I don't even remember the name of the pen that's how generic it was. I went home, immediately finding a chunk if wood we had laying around from our snake enclosure that we built and I drew up a dainty little flower with vines and leafs and the second that brand new, shiny, red hot (red hot because I had absolutely no idea still what I was doing. Even after binge watching bad, shaky how to videos) I knew right away this is what I was meant to do. Not because my first time was amazing, oh god no. It was so horrific I've seen first timers blow me out of the water! But because of every aspect of this art. The SMELL was like no other. Screw huffing paint fumes all day, give me that good 'ol lung damaging wood smoke. Not only was it the smell that I fell so hard for, but also the feeling, the shading, the technique....Everything!! I have always been talented in art but never to the point I ever actually LOVED art. Graphite smears, paint blends weird, but burning...oh man the shade work, the perfect lines. It's like we were meant for each other.

Then comes the Sprint and T-Mobile merger (shocker, am I right?) Well, pretty much I wasnt "promised" to keep my job and I couldn't risk not having an income not like i was getting much of one anyways. I looked around and got hired on as Security for the biggest Amazon facility in our region and believe me when I say I am not fit for security. Long weeks, long days, days of sometimes doing nothing but stand by the X-ray machine daydreaming of all the stuff I could be burning instead. It was there at that X-Ray machine that i found my name, "The Sixth Sense Pyrography". It just made sense (literally), I love the paranormal, and like I stated before, woodburning just came so naturally to me after that first flower that it was like a 6th sense. I could do it with my eyes closed! Although I wouldn't recommend it to the non pros because you'll likely burn yourself. A year goes by, I'm head Security at topped off pay. Unless I wanted to be the site manager, there really wasnt room for me to continue to grow and I'm not built for a manager position like that. It was close to my burn out stage, with covid messing up the whole work flow, couldn't stand 6 ft to groups of 100s employees, I met the manager of a sanitation company. They went around to every amazon in our area and sanitized the facilities for Covid how fun right?...not... try heavy back packs filled with fluid and a tyvek suit. Hot and lots of times the backpacks would malfunction and empty onto your pants. Not only was this job not fun, i became depressed and unmotivated to burn anything anymore. I knew it and I knew something had to change. Well 5 months into it as a lead we loose our contract with Amazon...no more work. Which leads us to where I am now. A striving, Motivated, happy, wood burner. My place in life.

Thank you for listening to that very long shor version of the journey that brought me to where I am now. And without my followers, I don't think I would have gotten this far. Thank you all!
